Winter Anniversary Photoshoot

Winter anniversary photoshoot at Kamiak Butte with Kat and Jesse

Kat and Jesse are two of the kindest, most generous, thoughtful people I have the pleasure of calling friends. It was a blast getting to do this winter anniversary photoshoot with them. During a photoshoot, I always try to facilitate an environment where we feel like old friends, in this case it was the truth. We met on the restaurant scene in Moscow, ID having wine on patios and going to ridiculous costume parties. In the middle of a cold January in 2018 they invited me down to live with them in the Caribbean, and I thought, why the heck not?

Here they are exploring the coast with me on St. Croix

So I packed up everything I owned and stored it in my mom’s basement like a real adult. Then I moved to sunny St. Croix to become a professional third wheel (let me just say I excelled at this) where we spent our time drinking wine on beaches and going to tropical costume parties. The best decision I ever made – aside from befriending these two in the first place. I’m so grateful to have these two in my life. It’s a blessing to have adventurous friends ready to explore anywhere with you, from coral reefs to snowy mountaintops.

As much as I love a moody winter shoot, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t dying for summer time (Patio Season as we call it). Golden light and flowy dresses. Warm fingers and toes. Sandy beaches and sunny road trips.

Excuse me while I daydream over here.

In the meantime I’m just happy to spend time with friends doing something I love. If you want to brave the winter extremes (it was 17 degrees here last week), then let’s make it happen! The most remarkable moments in life happen when we stretch ourselves outside of our comfort zone (or our comfortably warm zones). Although I am a summer baby to my core, there’s something to be said for a natural snowy reflector and the diffused light of a gloomy day.
